Ngorongoro crater is the largest intact caldera covering 310 kilometer square, 600 meters deep and 20 kilometers across. It is one of the breathtaking natural wonders of Tanzania. It is a place within the Ngorongoro conservation area where man and wildlife come directly into contact. The crater serves as a habitat to a number of species of plants and animals found inside the crater.

Day 1: Itinerary

After breakfast at 7:00 am you will depart with your packed lunch boxes from Masailand Safari Lodge or Arusha town and driven to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.The drive time will take approximately4-5 hours to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, an estimated 153 Kilometers. You will then enjoyyour game drive and the Crater. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is named one of the Eight Natural Wonders of the World “Heritage Site” due to the amusing of the Crater.Ngorongoro Crater isthe largest intact Crater in the world.About 2 million years ago the Ngorongoro volcano erupted, and its walls collapsed. The volcano floorsank to create a natural enclosure with its 600m tall walls.At over 19 kilometers wide, Ngorongoro Crater is filled with great areas of Acacia forest, Hippo filled swamps and open grasslands. These different habitats contain over 30,000 animals – including Elephants, Warthogs, Flamingos, magnificent Bird-life, the rare black Rhinoceros and allthe predatory cats. The Maasai can also be seen grazing their cattle alongside the Buffalo and Wildebeest.Picnic Lunch boxes in Midday at Hippo pool-Ngoitoktok Swamp, and then you will continue withgame drive. Later in the Evening you will exit Ngorongoro and driven back to Masailand Safari Lodge orArusha town
